Recently Bruce Woodward, fire chief in Rockport, retired as an instructor for Maine Fire Training and Education after twenty-five years of providing training to local firefighters.

In his honor a scholarship has been formed to bring specialized training to area firefighters. This scholarship will directly benefit the communities in Knox County, Lincolnville, Waldoboro, and the Penobscot Bay Islands.

Currently, the state funds fundamental training programs throughout the state. Local firefighters need additional support to fund training in advanced fire fighting techniques to be better prepared for the ever changing dangers that are encountered on the fire scene.

In addition to the benefits of this advanced training, we intend to promote operations and team work in the mutual aid system.

To bring this specialized training to local firefighters we need your financial support. Your donation will allow for decades of annual awards commencing in the fall of 2006.
